In 2006, the practice was invited to carry out a feasibility and outline design for a new resort village in Goa, India. A design team consisting of masterplanners, landscape architects and architects prepared an outline design vision based on creating a sustainable new settlement that offered high landscape values and would be naturally tuned to the topography and habitat of the locality. Key drivers in the design were to re-establish native vegetation and provide a pattern of villas and apartments which all offered seaward views, many with specially conceived infinity pools located at the upper levels of larger villas. The resort was based around the creation of a distinctive village hub, which would provide a clearly defined sense of place and community ethos for the scheme.

A series of dynamic and contemporary landscape features were developed, including a richly colourful ‘botanic garden of light’ consisting of groves of illuminated flower gardens offering a unique and memorable and night time visitor experience. In addition, a pavilion was located as a focal point on an existing peninsula, to be a centre of meditation and natural spa treatments. The scheme included the restoration of an existing beach and the creating of a small new harbour for yachts.
